October 8, 2020 - Maximizing your Company'âs Engagement with CPES
The Industry Consortium creates a strong synergy between Members and CPES resulting in a win-win proposition for both. This collaborative model hinges on regular interactions and communication between CPES and Members.Members guide research by continually informing CPES professors and students about industry needs. In turn, CPES is then able to apply top minds in power electronic to real-world problems, conducting cutting-edge research in a world-class laboratory. Innovative solutions are shared with our Members and the students who helped develop them become high-value employees.
However, members may struggle to realize maximum value from the myriad benefits that CPES Membership provides. How can you ensure your company gets the most out of its Membership?
- Be aware of your companyâs benefits.
CPES has a lot of activities and offerings available for Members, ranging from our annual conference, the CPES website, monthly webinars, program reviews and IP Sharing. While some, like the CPES Website, are open to all membership levels, some become available only at certain levels. For an outline of all Membership levels and benefits see this webpage. - Encourage CPES Website accounts.
Urge your co-workers to create accounts on the CPES website so they can explore publications, presentations and more. Once registered on the website, their emails are automatically added to the appropriate CPES mailing lists and they will receive notice of all relevant events. See instructions below. - Increase CPES event participation at your company.
Many CPES activities aim to share technical information and foster interaction with our Members. Your participation, and that of your colleagues, is critical. Consider forwarding monthly webinar notices or highlight specific conference presentations for interested groups in your organization. Not only will practical technical information be disclosed, participants will be able to directly engage CPES faculty and students. - Communicate Membership advantages to leadership.
Ensure that leadership in your organization is aware of the value received from CPES Membership. Draw attention to newly hired CPES alumni and review the shared IP report with them (if your company has a Principal Plus or Principal Membership). Additionally, CPES can help by providing engagement data specific for your company. I.e. the numbers of participants across all CPES events and active CPES Website accounts are available.
Many thanks to IAB Representatives Heath Kouns, Moog and Laszlo Balogh, Texas Instruments for sharing their ideas for maximizing Membership advantages and engagement. You can view their notes, starting at slide 17, from the June 2020 IAB Meeting presentation.
Do not hesitate to contact Dennis Grove, Industry Program Director (dgrove@vt.edu), with any questions you might have about your companyâs membership benefits.
